Tourist numbers visiting UK rising

The number of foreign tourists visiting Britain increased during the first part of this year, according to official figures - and that's before the boom the Olympics is expected to bring. The Office for National Statistics revealed that the first five months of 2012 saw 12.16 million foreign residents arrive in Britain, 5% up on the same period last year and good news for those looking for The figures include a 3% rise in the number of traditionally big-spending North Americans visiting UK shores, helping to take foreign visitor spending to £6.21 billion between January and May, 5% more than during the same period in 2011. Meanwhile, there were 19.87 million visits overseas by UK residents during the first five months of the year with their spending totalling £11.11 billion, 1% more than during the same period of last year.
