| Travel agents and people working in travel jobs will be given free access to the Shard in London when it opens its doors next year. For a week in January, travel agents will have free access to London's new skyscraper as part of an exclusive sneak preview of The View from the Shard - which is expected to attract thousands of tourists. Speaking to TTG, Anders Nyberg, chief executive of the new attraction, said he was keen to allow people working in travel jobs a preview and had set up a specialist trade website and marketing team. He said around 4,000 trade experts and guests would be given access to the preview week. Mr Nyberg, who worked as a director for the visitor centre at the Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building, based in Dubai, and at the Sears Tower in Chicago, said the views from the Shard were unrivalled. He said: "This is by far the greatest view of anywhere in the world. The visitor experience at the Burj is unique, but there's not much to see up there because there's so much desert. "And Chicago is great, but London offers an amazing depth of history and views, with far and away the best viewing gallery I have ever seen." Copyright Press Association 2012 |
