Business travel sales at home-working agency Travel Counsellors grew by nearly a fifth in the first few weeks of the year, figures have shown.
The company - based in Bolton - hopes to improve its presence on the business travel market after results showed a 19% year-on-year increase in sales in the division last month.
Managing director Steve Byrne said the company was "delighted" with the positive start it had made this year, particularly in its corporate division.
"It is a great reflection on the efforts of our Business Travel Counsellors and is proof that with the right attitude, skills and support, it's still possible to grow your own travel business in what we all realise is a tough market," he said.
The MD also said there had been a rise of a tenth in the number of new agents who had taken travel jobs with the firm as specialists in business travel.
"Nearly half of the agent award winners at Travel Counsellors' 2011 conference run corporate travel businesses, with the winner of the Best UK Travel Counsellor, Hampshire-based Tony Snook, making nearly £3 million in sales in 2011 - primarily through business trip bookings," Mr Byrne added.
